Hi Youthful Yogis!
A lot of my friends have been super busy lately. They have been practicing different yoga positions, enjoying mudras ("yoga for the hands") and even doing some awesome partner poses. I wanted to share some of the fun with you today. And, while we're at it, I figured I could answer the age old question: "How did that yoga pose get its name????"

"I've been waiting a long time  to get the answer to that question!"

Let's get started! Take a look at these cool pictures of my Youthful Yogis friends doing yoga together. Next to each image, I've included a picture that shows how the yoga pose got it's name....

I hope you've had fun looking at yoga poses today, Youthful Yogis. And now you know how these poses got their names!

While it's true that many poses have been around for many, many years, you can always make up postures of your own: find inspiration in the world around you, who knows what you'll come up with....?!

Have lots of fun and I'll see you again soon!

Hi Youthful Yogis!
If you have been reading this blog for a while you'll know that I love, love and I mean love, learning about gods and goddesses from Hindu mythology. They are beautiful, inspiring and really just plain awesome!

Here are a few of the Hindu deities (gods) that my Youthful Yogis friends and I like a lot:

Lord Krishna

Baby Krishna...sometimes called "the Butter Thief!"

Lord Shiva

Hanuman!

Vishnu, riding on his serpent with many heads

Surya, "the Sun God"

I guess this would be as good a time as any to tell you that I've  become so interested in how Hindu gods and goddesses have inspired certain yoga poses, that I had to go and make a movie about it! I posted the movie on YouTube and if you click on the words "Yoga Movie" below, it will link you to the site. Please check with an adult to make sure it is OK to visit YouTube.

Have fun looking at Hindu deities, Youthful Yogis. I'll be back in touch soon!
